DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Department is responsible for all areas and buildings at Kripalu in upholding an exceptional standard of cleanliness. This role has dual responsibilities as it also reports into Facilities.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Houseperson is responsibie for general upkeep of all Public Areas, Amenity Spaces, and Guest Areas, maintaining cleanliness throughout Kripalu’s buildings. This role involves cleaning and stocking guest rooms and common areas efficiently and cost effectively. This role involves working closely with the Facilities Department with handling general maintenance tasks in Kripalu bathrooms, public areas, and staff areas, ensuring that all requests and repairs are completely safely, promptly, and professionally. Additionally, this position upholds the cleanliness, decor, and aesthetic standard across all all Kripalu facilities, serving as a key member of Housekeeping and Facilities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Houseperson serves as the direct report for all of the PM Housekeeping Associates and reports directly to the Housekeeping Team Lead. This position upholds the standards laid out by Housekeeping Management Team and ensures compliance in each area of the building.
- The Houseperson conducts routine maintenance checks of each area assigned to them by the Director of Facilities.
- Operates and repairs equipment including hand and power tools.
- Maintains plumbing and operating systems in guest areas.
- Reviews facilities tracker and completes open item tasks and guests requests.
- Serves as a liaison between departments, carrying a radio to stay in contact with the Guest Services Team, Campus Safety Team, and Facilities Team.
- From time to time, will assign daily tasks to each member of the team, inspecting their work, and documenting the day’s tasks in pre-developed documentation created by Housekeeping Management Team.
- Will work to familiarize themselves with Resort Suite and other computer-oriented operating systems including the Facilities Tracker.
- Will report directly to Housekeeping Team Leads, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and Director of Guest Rooms and Amenity Operations to maintain synchronicity across levels of management to ensure a consistent product for Kripalu’s guests.
- Clean, prepare, detail, and maintain all public areas of Kripalu including; public restrooms, program rooms, lobby areas, fitness centers, entrances, luggage rooms, tech lounges, and other defined guest spaces.
- Clean, prepare, and detail all areas of our guest rooms including bathrooms, making beds, and vacuuming.
- Clean and detail the dormitories including making bunk beds.
- Pick up and dispose of trash and recycling in defined manner.
- Vacuum and dust public areas. Floor cleanings. Carpet Shampooing.
- Perform duties in accordance with defined safety standards, MA Health and Safety Guidelines, and Close Personal Contact Services standards.
- Perform duties in a manner that ensures guest security, privacy and confidentiality.
- Report any damage or missing supplies in guest rooms, public bathrooms, or common areas to supervisor.
- Prepare cleaning carts and stock closets.
- Assist with cleaning public bathrooms; clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, walls, and floors, re-stocking supplies.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
- Supports the Kripalu team and other departments in ensuring the best-overall guest experience possible.

- No chemical sensitivity; able to use all Housekeeping cleaning products.
- Ability to work on feet and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
- Ability to understand basic instruction in English with a desire to learn more.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time, independently, or with assistance on an occasional to frequent basis.
- Ability to stand up to eight hours a day
