POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Kripalu Programs Manager is an essential operational and relational leader, responsible for oversight and management of all aspects of the day-to-day business of Kripalu’s R&R Retreats and Kripalu Experience Programs (KEP). The position manages the scheduling, operations, and HR needs of a broad and diverse faculty body of teachers and works in close collaboration with department Director to ensure superior guest experience. The role oversees departmental programming in accordance with the organization’s mission and strategy; and oversees operations and delivery of programs in a manner aligned with Kripalu values The Manager also supports the Director with budget forecasting and management of revenue and expenditures in accord with yearly budget and margin parameters.  Sitting at the nexus of interdepartmental collaboration, the position is responsible for the success and improvement of systems, policies, and protocols in a way that increases efficiency and promotes knowledge sharing with key collaborators. This position reports to the Director of Kripalu Programs and supervises the R&R Coordinator. 

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Manages and maintains the architecture and individual scheduling of all daily, weekly, and monthly offerings within R&R Programs; Day and Evening Workshops, Guest Yoga, Outdoor Activities, YogaDance, and Kripalu Experience Programs 

  • Manages department’s administrative staff; responsible for staff productivity, efficiency, and work quality. Responsible for training and supervising Coordinator 

  • Manages part-time and per diem program faculty within RR/KEP Programs. 

  • Oversees scheduling of Kripalu Faculty 

  • Skillfully cultivates and manages faculty relationships, to advocate win/win solutions on behalf of both Kripalu and the teacher 

  • Creates and maintains department’s bi-weekly payroll, processes End of Month financial reports, and assists Director of Kripalu Programs with annual budget. 

  • Responsible for adherence to all relevant safety protocols in R&R activities including outdoor activities. Responsible for maintaining records of faculty certifications 

  • Uses participant evaluations to improve content, delivery quality, and guest experience 

  • Manages the connection, collaboration, and cooperation of other department leaders to ensure excellence in program delivery and guest satisfaction 

  • Communicates all relevant program details to partner teams within the organization, including Registrations and Guest Services, Production, Program Administration, Marketing, and other departments as needed 

  • Expected to attend weekly and bi-weekly department and interdepartmental meetings 

  • Works with the Director of Kripalu Programs, Director of Curriculum & Faculty Development, and the Chief Learning Officer on processes/decisions/communications/plans related to hiring and onboarding, mentoring, promoting, and assessing Kripalu faculty, ensuring alignment with Faculty and Learning department initiatives and processes. 

  • Provides back-up and support for other team members’ duties and responsibilities 

  • Assist in the continual improvement of policies and procedures to enable the department to run efficiently and effectively, including training and supervising faculty on departmental systems

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Strong management skills  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Experience creating and overseeing budgets 

  • Time management skills; ability to organize and prioritize (short term and long term) projects and tasks to meet deadlines. 

  • Problem solving skills: ability to analyze problems and generate potential solutions. 

  • Must be able to show a high level of attention to detail   

  • High level of integrity and confidentiality 

  • Proficiency in MS Office products, as well as ability to learn in-house technical applications 

  • Possess an understanding of Kripalu’s vision and position in the industry; able to envision and create new and expansive directions 

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • 2-3 years of experience in management or demonstrated potential to supervise staff 

 

VALUED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Prior non-profit experience 

  • Degree in Business Administration 

  • Knowledge of Kripalu Teachings and Methodology
