Job Summary: The Small Business Underwriter I is an entry level / training / learning position which enables the incumbent to develop in the role of providing basic analytical underwriting support for the making of credit decisions at a low level of complexity. The Small Business Underwriter I requires significant guidance from the Credit Underwriting Manager or more experienced Commercial Underwriters in performing his or her duties.

Listing of Key Responsibilities:

  1. Underwrites all commercial express loans with TCE less than or equal to $500m.
  2. Writes express credit memo relative to loan requests including history, purpose and cash flow analysis
  3. Spreads all provided financials for Commercial and Consumer Loan Requests with TCE greater than $500m to support Commercial Underwriters.
  4. Performs job responsibilities with an understanding of the importance of and in compliance with applicable Bank policies, procedures and processes, as well as applicable external laws and regulations.
  5. Assists Sr. Director of Credit Administration and Credit Underwriting Managers with any special projects or reports

Qualifications

Education Required: Undergraduate Degree (preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting or a Related Field)

Experience Required: This is an entry level professional position. Prefer individuals with 1-2 years experience with a desire to pursue a career in underwriting and/or lending.

Knowledge and Skills Required: Some knowledge of banking through either education or part time employment while in school. Basic verbal and written communication, organizational, time management, technology user and general analytical skills are needed.

Key Business Relationships: Interacts internally with CRO, SR Director of Credit Administration, Credit Underwriting Manager, Credit Underwriters and other Credit Analysts, Operations Officer, Loan Operations Manager and staff, County Presidents and other Loan Officers.
