Description

The Occupational Therapist Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of occupational services; adherence to an established plan of care, department, and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services.
  • Works with other members of the OT team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
  • Instruct patients, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  • Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.
  • Implements a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including the application of therapeutic techniques
  • Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintain targeted caseload hours of 26 therapy per week 

 

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Credentials:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) therapy program
  • Current IL State Licensure
  • CPR Certification required within 90 days of hire

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Ability to receive training in, and implement, de-escalation skills for clients
  • Ability to lift or carry 30 lbs unassisted 
  • Ability to work in a variety of active positions, including on the floor during played-based therapy

 

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel within assigned region for training, meetings and supporting client coverage needs.
