POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a high-energy seasonal lead position, beginning mid-May through August, at the Lula W. Dorsey Museum at the YMCA of the Rockies, based in Estes Park, CO. Primarily, the Museum Programs Coordinator assists the Museum Director in all facets of museum programming of the Lula W. Dorsey Museum. Responsibilities for this position are the planning and implementing of history-focused programming for our Day Camp attendees, leading museum programs and interpretative tours for multigenerational guests, and visitor services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Independently plan, develop, and lead history based programs for our day camp attendees: pre-K-6th grade
- Develop educational curriculum for a variety of audiences
- Plan, develop, and lead museum programs for multigenerational audiences
- Independently open and close the museum buildings as directed by Museums Director
- Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment of program and office areas
- Responsible for visitor services including greeting museum guests, providing tours of the exhibits, and answering questions
- Work on Collection based projects with direction from the Collections Assistant and Museum Director
- Occasionally act as a liaison between museum volunteers and Director
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as hours will vary and may include weekends and holidays
- Support Day Camp Staff outside of regularly scheduled museum programs such as end of day skit time as determined by Day Camp and Museum Directors
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Working towards or completion of a Bachelors degree in history, education, social studies, or parks and recreation with an emphasis on informal education and interpretation.
- Experience working with students in K-12, preferably including in a museum or educational setting
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Possess strong office skills, including Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Possess a valid, USA state issued drivers license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles
- Possess, or be willing to obtain Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification

- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry up one (1) flight of steps.
- Ability to work outdoors, including hiking over varied terrain.
- Short bursts of stooping, kneeling, bending, standing for long periods of time, etc.
