POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, which operates a mission-based family and group conference and retreat center, day camp and overnight camp, serving more than 50,000 guests) annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to successfully plan and implement traditional summer camp programs from inception, development, facilitation, and participant satisfaction.
- Ability to act and make sound judgement as the director of day-to-day operations.
- Assist in creating a safe space for all by helping break down barriers for all Dimensions of Diversity including; hiring practices, forms, training, and all aspects of programs.
- Assist in moving forward the YMCA of the Rockies Diversity Initiative in camp programs.
- Meet tasks assigned to position in the CCO Strategic Initiatives Plan (SIP) or equivalent strategic plan, ensuring the work assists in the overall execution of the SMR and YMCA of the Rockies Strategic Action Plan or equivalent.
- Support Philanthropy efforts related to Summer Camp scholarships and capital projects
- Possess stamina to work in the work environment described herein.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three (3) years of education, training, and/or experience related to organized camping and at least 24 years of age.
- Required to live onsite.
- Possess or the ability to earn YMCA Team Leader certification within three (3) years.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills with parents/guardians, staff and peers.
- Recruit, hire, train, and coach over 100 seasonal staff for summer camp programs.
- Experience in budgeting; creating and maintaining.
- Knowledge of multiple different camp programs and age appropriate development of these programs including; equestrian, target sports, nature, water sports, and others.
- Assist in the marketing of camp and improvement in the retention of campers over multiple years.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards of the American Camp Association and their applicability to programs.
- Be aware of and work to meet Colorado Child Care Licensing regulations and Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment regulations as it pertains to programs.
- Minimum of First Aid/CPR/AED certified for Adults and Children (within 30 days).
- Ability to strategically plan two years into the future.
- Leading a minimum of one (1) post-camp (Family Camp, Active Adults, Fall Camp, Winter Camp, and/or any future camps).
- Ability to identify, cultivate and be a liaison with outside agencies of like-minded missions.
- Assist other departments within YMCA of the Rockies if available.
- Training in Mental Health First Aid and Restorative Justice a plus.
- Spanish bilingual a plus.
- Possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather, hiking large distances over varied terrain.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and carry up one (1) flight of steps.
- Short bursts of stooping, kneeling, bending, standing for long periods of time, etc.
- Prolonged periods at a computer and on the phone.
- Exposure to a noise level of a child care program can be high at times.
