Physician Assistant Clinical Coordinator

Charleston Southern University is seeking a clinical coordinator for the Physician Assistant program who will work closely with the director of clinical education to ensure student Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences comply with accreditation standards for the program and the university. The Clinical Coordinator will support the director of clinical education in an administrative role, ensuring the maintenance of the clinical site, preceptor, and student rotation documentation. This individual will be an integral member of the faculty and staff team.  This is a 12-month full-time position that reports to the director of clinical education and program director.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the director of clinical education with scheduling students on their supervised clinical practice experiences.
  • Assist in facilitating the implementation and ongoing usage of Typhon, the clinical software platform for the program, serving as one of the primary contacts for students and preceptors utilizing this system. 
  • Assist in confirming each student has met all requirements necessary for each of their supervised clinical practice experiences, ensuring these are uploaded into Typhon and shared with the appropriate clinical sites and preceptors.
  • Assist the director of clinical education in collecting student assessment information regarding their supervised clinical practice experiences. 
  • Assist with the maintenance of files for clinical sites and preceptors, ensuring all materials are up to date and in compliance with the supervised clinical practice experiences. 
  • Assist in the coordination of scheduling for student call-back days on the last two days of every rotation.
  • Facilitate payment of preceptors with the program and university as appropriate.
  • Register and maintain student course schedules for the clinical year.
  • Support special events related to the PA program, including, but not limited to, admissions interviews, the White Coat Ceremony, and Commencement.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the program director and the director of clinical education as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to learn other software relevant to duties.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and ability to use them effectively with internal and external constituencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, preceptors, and the public.
  • Ability to take initiative, plan, organize, and accurately complete assignments without immediate and constant supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of department records.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma Required 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least three years’ of relative experience, preferably in an academic environment.
