Position Summary:
The primary function of this position is to safeguard and protect individuals and assets, providing a safe, secure and nurturing learning environment for the Saint Andrew’s School community.

Two positions are available:

  • Day Shift working Sunday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm
  • Night Shift working Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 8pm 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Secure premises and personnel by conducting campus patrols and inspecting buildings, windows, and doors to ensure locks are in place and working. 

  • Investigate, compose, and submit accurate incident/accident reports for all incidents as well as suspicious activity.

  • Direct and control traffic entering and exiting campus in high volume at times.

  • Provide access control at all campus access points.

  • Enforce campus safety & security protocols.

  • Respond to alarms and dispatched calls.

  • Complete Daily Activity Reports.

  • Provide assistance as needed to individuals on campus.

  • Develop and maintain positive relations with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • State of Florida Class D Security License.

  • Minimum of two-years experience and knowledge of security operations and safety practices.

  • Communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Computer skills that include: Google Suite (i.e., Gmail), CCTV Monitoring, Utilizing Incident Reporting Software.

  • Hold a valid and current state-issued driver’s license.

  • Hold a current certification in first aid, CPR & AED (training will be provided, if needed)

  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.

  • Possesses problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
     

Physical Requirements: 

  • Regularly stand stationary for prolonged periods of time to direct traffic, including repetitive arm movement, full range of motion in neck and body, and agility to avoid traffic

  • Regularly walk for extended periods of time

  • Regularly climb stairs

  • Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; Occasional lifting or exerting force up to 50 lbs

  • Frequent fingering and manual dexterity

  • Frequent mobility to operate a golf cart

  • Occasional sitting

  • Occasional reaching, stretching, kneeling, bending and stooping 

  • Regularly speak, hear, see (with correction), including peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing ability.
     

General:  In addition to the above mentioned requirements, must also work effectively under stressful situations, work independently at times but also function effectively as a member of a team.  The security officer must perform all duties in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance.

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, heat, cold and precipitation.  The employee must have the ability to work in inclement and variable weather conditions for extended periods of time and in unpredictable crisis situations. The school has a resident population of students and adults with security scheduled 24 hours per day; 7 days per week; 365 days per year.  Shift work required.
